Last week, 6W practiced using a steel striker for starting a campfire. We talked about campfire safety and the tools/equipment we need. 6W were very knowledgeable and also remembered the size(s) of kindling/tinder we use to start campfires, (match, mouse and crayon).

Mrs Lowe demonstrated lighting the campfire and Mrs Wadsworth demonstrated how we were going to make a foil cooking pouch to cook popcorn over the fire embers.

6W introduced a new campfire song from their residential stay and Mrs Lowe, with Mrs Wadsworth taught them a campfire song called ‘Vegetable Soup.’

The children all enjoyed sharing and eating the popcorn.
