Year 3 have been busy becoming geographers in the field! As part of our geography learning, we explored our school site to investigate how land is used in our local area.

The children carried out fieldwork around the school grounds, looking carefully for human and physical features. We identified physical features such as trees, grass and other natural areas, alongside human features including the school buildings, playgrounds, paths and fences.

As we explored, we discussed why different areas of land are used for different purposes. The children thought about areas used for learning, playing, travelling around the site and supporting wildlife and nature.

This fieldwork was a fantastic opportunity to develop our observation, geographical vocabulary and enquiry skills while learning more about the environment right on our doorstep. Well done, Year 3!
