At the end of the Spring term in geography, we explored the enquiry question… ‘Where does our food come from?’ Children were keen to see where some of their much loved food had been imported from and also where Britain exports produce to! We had fun using atlases to identify and locate countries across continents and used a scale bar to calculate the miles our food had travelled. It was interesting to learn about seasonal crops and the impact the current climate has over the success of growing seasonal food. We thought deeply about how global warming had an effect on supplies around the world, linking our learning back to our ‘Rainforest’ geography topic back in autumn.

Children showed great empathy and insight into how fair trade effects different people along the growing and selling chain and were pleased to hear about organisations that had taken great measures to balance the rights and responsibilities of those involved with trade, globally.
