As part of the year 5 learning on properties and their uses, the children explored and researched the impact nappies had on the environment. For cross-curricular writing, they were to write a speech persuading people to buy reusable nappies instead of disposable nappies. They spent a lesson researching the pros and cons of both types of nappies.

We started the learning by seeing how much water a disposable nappy could hold. The children were shocked to see it could hold 250ml of water without leakage. However, the nappy was incredibly heavy.

We tested the resuable nappy with the same amount of water but found that the was little absorbency.
