Year 5 Science
This half term we are learning about forces.
Last week, the children completed an experiment using independent variables (things they change) and dependent variables (things they measure)
In groups, they pulled a weight, using a Newton meter, across a range of surfaces to test friction. The more force needed to pull the weight, the higher the friction.

This week, we were trying to discover if some objects fall faster- after a few demonstrations using golf and ping pong balls, and a home made parachute, the childre realised it is not the weight that makes a difference but how gravity and air resistence works along with surface area.
