This week, we have been celebrating Interfaith Week. Inter Faith Week is an occasion that is intended to celebrate the UK’s religious diversity and strengthen ties between communities that follow different faiths and religious beliefs. Its purpose is to celebrate values, promote understanding and encourage children to discuss their own beliefs.

We celebrated Interfaith Week by having a class assembly all about the importance of celebrating each other’s differences and then each year group completed a different activity linked to a religion that they do not necessarily cover as part of the curriculum for that year.

Y1- Looked at Sikhism with a focus on the 5 K’s.

Y2- Looked at Christianity and created stain glass windows of the Nativity scene.

Y3- Looked at Islam and focussed on Islamic art, in particular tiles and patterns.

Y4- Looked at Hinduism and created fact files on the Hindu Gods and Goddesses.

Y5- Looked at Judaism, with a focus on Hannukah and created their own Dreidel games.

Y6- Looked at Humanism and then created their own Humanist symbol.
