Understanding Emotions.
As part of our SEMH Curriculum, we spend a lot of time exploring our emotions, matching our feelings to our actions and learning strategies to help us deal with how we are feeling in different situations. Last week, we were thinking about being ‘stressed ‘and imagining that we had a stress bucket that gets filled up and overflows with the emotions and actions that result from this. There were a lot of discussions about what factors fill our stress bucket up, how we act when we are stressed and how we can alleviate being stressed (turn on the tap to empty our stress bucket).
We also read The Hugging Tree by Jill Neimark. This is a story about being resilient and people who support us. The children identified the trusted adults they can turn to when they need support.
